The Oxford Range

The Oxford Range is the heaviest of our benches and will stand up to heavy public use. It is the ideal bench for remote locations, when little or no maintenance will be carried out, or public places, like parks, playgrounds etc, where it may be subjected to heavy use.

Benches from this range are often chosen because they have a very substantial appearance. They are well able to take abuse and neglect and should still be giving service in at least 30 years time. This bench has been developed as result of working with public authorities.

The bench is constructed using 73mm thick timbers for the legs and arms, 45/37mm timbers for the three main rails, 45mm thick supports for the seat slats, larger screws to secure the supports to the rails, larger leg/rail braces and more substantial back slats. As a result they are approximately 30% heavier than the equivalent Woodstock Bench.

This range of bench is available with the following features:

• Straight, shaped or scalloped backs
• Standard or curved arms

Available sizes:

• single seat
• 1.2m
• 1.5m
• 1.8m
• 2.1m
• 2.4m with 6 legs

Please note that the shaped backs in a 2.1m or 2.4m size bench, will always be shaped with a scalloped back. This enhances the benches proportions and presents the script better, particularly when there are two (or three) lines of script. This shaping option can also be chosen for other sizes.
