The "Oxford" range is the heaviest range of benches that we manufacture - these are suitable for situations that require the heaviest duty timber bench; if the budget is available then we always recommend you choose from this range.
The bench is constructed using 75mm thick timbers for the legs and arms, 50mm timbers for the 3 main rails, thicker supports (and extra) for the seat slats, larger screws to secure the supports to the rails, larger leg/rail braces and more substantial back slats - as a result they are approximately 30% heavier than the equivalent "Woodstock" bench.

Benches from this range are often chosen because they have a very substantial appearance - they are well able to take abuse and neglect and should still be giving service in at least 30 years time.
This bench has been developed as result of working with public authorities.
Please note that if you opt for a high or shaped back in a 2,1m or 2,4m size bench we will shape the back rail as per the back shown in the top right hand photo of this page - it enhances the benches proportions and presents the script better particularly when there are 2 lines of script - This shaping option can be chosen also for other sizes.
