We manufacture 3 ranges of benches - the Oxford (heavy-weight) , the Woodstock (medium-weight) and the Burford (light-weight) ranges.We recommend that you should always choose a bench from the Oxford range if possible; the large timbers used ensure that the bench is as strong as possible and ensures the maximum possible service life. A bench from the Oxford range is approximately £ 55/60 more expensive than the equivalent design in the Woodstock range but it is approximately 30% heavier.
It is possible to select from 2 arm/leg designs and 3 top seat rail designs in each range - the images to the right show the arm and leg designs.
The Oxford range is the heaviest of our benches and well up to heavy public use - it should be chosen when the bench is to be located in either a remote location and little or no maintenance will be carried out, or the bench will receive heavy use/possible abuse in city/town centres. Many clients choose a bench from this range purely because they look "chunky".
We use 75mm thick timbers for the legs/arms and 50mm timbers for the main horizontal rails.
The benches are made in 1,2/ 1,5/ 1,8/ 2,1/ 2,4 m lengths.
This range is priced from £ 545 to £ 1185 with 20 combinations of lengths/arms/backs
The Woodstock range is also suitable for use in public areas .
It is our original range of benches and should be chosen if your budget falls short of a bench from the Oxford range or you want a slightly lighter looking bench.
We use 63mm timbers for the legs/arms and 37mm thick timbers for the main horizontal rails.
The benches are made in 1,2/ 1,5 / 1,8m sizes.
This range is priced from £ 505 to £ 710 with 12 combinations of lengths/arms/backs.
The Burford range is the lightest currently on offer although with 50mm leg timbers it is still well specified.
Benches from this range have been chosen for care homes, primary schools or back gardens and although the 1,5m version still weighs 26kg (56 lbs) it can be moved around without too much problem.
We use 50mm timbers for the legs/arms and 32/25mm timbers for the main horizontal rails.
The benches are made in 1,2m and 1,5m sizes.
This range is priced from £ 455 to £ 520 with 4 combinations of lengths/arms/backs .
All benches are made from the same very durable hardwood (Iroko) and all jointing is by traditional mortice and tenons - dowel jointing is not used. All structural joints are pegged and all joints are glued using top quality resin adhesives.
All screws are stainless steel and are hidden below glued in plugs that are sanded flush - this ensures maximum service life.
We glue and screw shaped braces between the legs and rails (front and rear) on all benches.
We offer a choice of 2 arm/leg designs and 2 top seat rail shapes in each of the ranges (Oxford/Woodstock/Burford) and can modify any design if you wish.
All the above benches have a seat height of 455mm (17 3/4")
